Cover Story Mitre launches Intelligent COMPRESSION, the new range of shin guards guaranteed to make an impact
September 2010 – Mitre, the world’s oldest football brand, announces the upcoming launch of Intelligent COMPRESSION, the latest evolution in shin guard technology. Featuring brand new “Cavity Compression” technology, Intelligent COMPRESSION guards are designed to offer the highest levels of impact protection to the wearer, are available to order now for a March delivery.
Intelligent COMPRESSION guards provide enhanced protection to the player by spreading the initial impact shock to the outer edges of the guard, before a three stage progressive compression gradually absorbs the rest of the impact:
STAGE 1: Initial Impact
On initial impact, the smooth solid outer shell efficiently spreads the shock to the outer edges, and away from the wearer’s leg.
STAGE 2: Cavity Compression Once the initial impact has been dispersed, the outer shell, compresses closing the air cavity between the shell and the EVA, gradually absorbing the force of the impact
STAGE 3: Structural Compression Under heavy impact the Geodesic Structure on the reverse of the shell progressively interacts with the EVA foam backing, acting as a dampener and absorbing the remaining energy of the impact.
