Volleyball Record: 13-2 (5-0 ACC)


l The Blue Devils added to their five game winning streak over the weekend by knocking off a pair of ACC rivals – Maryland and Boston College – from Cameron Indoor Stadium. l Amanda Robertson posted her third double-double in her last four matches, knocking down a team-high 19 kills to lead Duke past Maryland 3-2 (25-22, 21-25, 25-12, 23-25, 15-10) on Friday. l Robertson hit .471 for the match and made only three attack errors while collecting 16 digs and three blocks. l Junior setter Kellie Catanach had 55 assists and 15 digs, senior outside hitter Claire Smalzer had 11 kills and 23 digs, and senior middle blocker Becci Burling added 14 kills and 10 digs. l Freshman libero Ali McCurdy carried the defense with a career-high 34 digs. McCurdy, who has at least 20 digs in four straight matches, became the first Blue Devil to reach 30 digs since Smalzer had 35 on Oct. 17, 2008.


Blue Devil Blitz


l Catanach posted her team-leading sixth double-double of the season and dished out 46 assists to lead Duke past Boston College 3-1 (25-12, 22-25, 25-11, 25-14) on Saturday evening. l Duke hit .351 against Boston College with Sophia Dunworth (14), Robertson (11) and Burling (10) all posting double-digit kills. l Led by 16 digs from Smalzer and five blocks from Burling, Duke’s defense held Boston College to a .109 hitting percentage. Smalzer posted double-digit digs for the fourth straight match and now sits at fifth all-time on Duke’s career list with 1,372 assists.


Field Hockey Record: 6-6 (0-3 ACC)


l The Blue Devils went 1-1 over the weekend from Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium ,falling to No. 12 Boston College on Saturday, but defeating No. 11 Boston University on Sunday. l Duke led Boston College in both total shots (7-4) and penalty corners (4-2), but the Eagles


broke a scoreless tie in the second half and were able to hang on for the 1-0 victory. l Freshman Emmie Le Marchand, who leads the team with four goals on the season, had the Blue Devils lone shot on goal, while senior Samantha Nelson made three saves in the cage. Le Marchand is also the team leader in points with nine. l On Sunday against, Boston University, freshman Caashia Karringten registered the game-winning goal ten minutes into the second half to send the Blue Devils to the 1-0 victory. Freshman Grace Christus assisted on the goal, her third of the season. l Karringten has scored two goals on the season taking 11 shots. l Nelson made six saves in the game to earn her fourth shutout of the season. l The Blue Devils return to action this weekend, hitting the road to take on Maryland Saturday, Oct. 9 in College Park, before facing American on Sunday, Oct. 10 in Washington, D.C. Both games are scheduled for 1 p.m. starts.


Men’s Soccer Record: 5-2-3 (1-2-1 ACC)


l The Blue Devils finished with a 1-1 record last week, dropping a road contest to Maryland, while defeating Davidson at home. l Maryland registered two first-half goals en route to a 2-0 win over No. 9 Duke in Atlantic Coast Conference men’s soccer action from Ludwig Field. The contest drew a record crowd 7,260 live on Fox Soccer Channel. l Maryland held a 19-10 advantage in shots for the game and a 6-2 edge in corner kicks. l Sophomore goaltender James Belshaw made seven saves against the Terrapins. l On Tuesday, the Blue Devils knocked off non-conference foe Davidson College 4-1 from Koskinen Stadium. l Sophomore Ryan Finley and senior Cole Grossman combined for 10 points to lead Duke. Finley and Grossman both registered two goals and an assist apiece. Finley has scored 10 goals on the year. l Junior Christopher Tweed-Kent registered a career-high two assists in the contest to push his season total to four.
