Ronald McDonald House Student-Athlete of the Week
Volleyball standout Amanda Robertson was named this week’s Ronald McDonald House Charities Duke Student- Athlete of the Week after leading the Blue Devils to wins over Maryland (3-2) and Boston College (3-1). Robertson hit .490 for the week with only five errors on 51 attacks. The 6-3 junior posted her fifth double-double of the year in a 3-2 win over Maryland on Friday, collecting a team-high 19 kills and 16 digs, and then hit .529 with 11 kills against Boston College on Saturday. On the year, Roberston ranks second on the team in hitting percentage (.349), third in kills (143), digs (136) and blocks (33).

Conference Rivals The Blue Devils are set to take on a pair of conference rivals this weekend from Cameron Indoor Stadium as Duke looks to remain perfect in ACC play this season. Friday evening will pit the Blue Devils against rival North Carolina, while Saturday night has the Blue Devils taking on N.C. State. Both games will be webcast live on GoDuke.com
Award Winners Duke swept the ACC’s weekly volleyball awards as junior Amanda Robertson was named ACC Volleyball Player of the Week and freshman Ali McCurdy was named ACC Freshman of the Week. Robertson and McCurdy led Duke (13-2, 5-0 ACC) to a 3-2 win over Maryland and a 3-1 win over Bos- ton College last weekend as the Blue Devils stayed undefeated in conference play. The weekly awards are the second of the sea- son for both Blue Devils as Robertson was named ACC Player of the Week on Sept. 20 and McCurdy was named ACC Freshman of the Week on Sept. 13.
The Last Time Last season, Duke went 1-1 against North Carolina and 2-0 against N.C. State. The Blue Devils swept the Tar Heels 3-0 last year in Cameron Indoor Stadium led by a 13 kill effort from Robertson. Duke’s defense managed to hold North Carolina to a .116 hitting percentage, including a .051 clip in the final game. Middle blocker Becci Burling added five blocks. Libero Claire Smalzer picked up 23 digs in last year’s home meeting with the Wolfpack. Rachael Moss and Burling each reached double figures with 12 kills and 10 kills, respectively, while sophomore Sophia Dunworth added
Duke University will host the Rod Myers Invitational on Oct. 10-11 at the Duke University Golf Club. The event is in lasting memory of Duke’s former head coach who led the Blue Devils from 1973-2007.
