Be a part of the action with ERS
With recent high profile endorsements in the motorcycling press and a growing number of qualified trainers right across the country, the enhanced rider scheme (ERS) is starting to make a name for itself. If you're an experienced motorcycle trainer, you can become part of the action by signing up to the register of post-test motorcycle trainers (RPMT).
The enhanced rider scheme (ERS) is a training and assessment programme aimed at fully licensed motorcyclists who want to improve certain areas of their riding skills. Launched in February 2007, the scheme was jointly developed by DSA and the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA).
"It isn't a high viz vest day of textbook riding, it's quite the opposite." Tom Scola SUPERBIKE MAGAZINE
Tuition is tailored to the individual's needs, so riders do as little or as much training as required. It concentrates on identifying weaknesses around the key risk areas in on-road riding, such as bend negotiation, overtaking, positioning and junctions.
Riders who complete the scheme receive an offi cial ERS certificate, which can entitle them to big discounts on their bike insurance. Most of the major insurance companies recognise the scheme, offering discounts to the tune of up to 17 per cent.

If you're already an experienced motorcycle trainer and you'd like to deliver ERS tuition, you'll need to sign up to the register of post-test motorcycle trainers (RPMT). There are two ways to join:
pass a DSA theory test, riding ability test and instructional ability test
pass a DSA-accredited training course and a DSA theory test

"I came away more comfortable and confident on the bike, with a much better understanding of how to get it safely around corners and knowing where I need to be on the road to keep myself out of trouble. In short, I feel a much safer rider.” Paul Harris, RiDE MAGAZINE
