The Data Protection Act requires all staff that handle personal data to receive data protection training. That’s the law.

Why Does My School Need this Training? Without proper regularly refreshed data protection training, your school and potentially individual staff are in breach of the Data Protection Act. The law requires you to keep personal data secure and to ensure that staff handle it in accordance with the Data Protection Act. Non-compliance can lead to investigation, enforcement action, criminal fi nes, compensation claims and adverse publicity. If investigated for a potential breach e.g. for loss of a laptop, this certifi cated training will be taken into consideration by the Regulator when deciding what enforcement action to take.
Who Should Attend? Any member of staff that handles personal data. ie. All teaching and support staff, governors, administrators, secretaries, business managers and bursars.
