University in Singapore, the team developed a culturally relevant treatment method using materials available locally in Cambodia.
Fox Interactive Media-MySpace: MySpace Music Recommendation Sys- tem The MySpace social networking website allows members to create personal profiles and share them with others, including tastes in popular music. This project developed a prototype music recommendation system for MySpace.
Center for Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technology (CIMIT): Closed Circuit Xenon Delivery System for Neuroprotective Therapy The CIMIT team developed a closed-circuit breathing system to deliver Xenon gas as a neuropro- tectant. This system will be used to treat individuals who have experienced varying degrees of brain trauma. If the testing phase of the prototype is successful, the device will be used in the medical industry and ultimately on the battlefield.
Lien Institute for the Environment: Design of a Household-level Arsenic Treatment System for Rural Cambodia Arsenic concentrations in Cambodian groundwater can be 100 times greater than the World Health Organization’s standard of 10 ppm. In collaboration with students from Nanyang Technological

Los Alamos National Laboratory: Thermal Imaging for the LANSCE 1L Target Current particle beam diagnostic instruments have not been able to withstand the intense thermal and radiation environment of the Los Alamos Neutron Science Center particle accelerator. The Mudd team was tasked with the design of a system that determines the position and distribution of the proton beam by thermal image analysis.
National Institute for Nano Engineering (NINE): Unwinding Spooled Electrospun Nanofibers Nanofibers, fibers 100 to 1,000 times narrower than a human hair, have a wide range of technological applications because of their outstanding surface area to mass ratio. Applications include medical filtra- tion and advanced lithium-ion batteries. An infrastructure does not yet exist for the storage and transport of nanofibers for use at second- ary processing facilities; to this end, the Mudd team designed, built, and tested a system to store nanofibers on a spool and unwind them for later use.
Nike, Inc.: Design of Cleatless Soccer Shoes Students designed a cleat-free soccer shoe that achieves the same traction proper- ties as a conventional soccer shoe, regardless of the playing surface.
Citadel Investment Group: Optimizing Pairs Trading Portfolios The team studied a method of statistical arbitrage known as pairs trading, and developed an automated strat- egy for quantitatively constructing a portfolio of pairs that attempts to minimize risk while maximizing expected returns.
