connected world

winners and losers in the Connected Home landscape Chair/Moderator: Neil Nixon, editor of IBE.

The new business models for new means of consumption will be the theme of the session keynote. Can all of the participants in the ecosystem make money? Can operators deploy a consistent monetisation strategy? Who will ‘own’ the customer? How revenues be split between networks, device manufacturers & content owners? Will the ability to distribute content simply and effectively to TV, PC, mobile and other devices, lead to the emergence of a new genre of service providers who aggregate content? What role will IPTV play? Are ‘apps’ and widgets the key to delivering content to non-TV devices? What are the business ramifications of such a move?

Other presentations will review

OTT VOD business models, realising the value of premium content and the relevance and importance of social media.

Connected World

This year, for the first time the popular IPTV, Mobile and Digital Signage Zones are brought together under one roof within the new Connected World in Hall 9.

For companies working in these rapidly evolving fields, this is the ideal opportunity to connect with IBC’s 45,000+ attendees. IBC is at the forefront of presenting new technologies and developments in the electronic media industry, and has a rich heritage of offering innovation, information and inspiration through its world class conference and pioneering engagement initiatives such as the Big Screen Experience, Exhibition Business Briefings and, most recently, the Production Village. The Connected World reflects the changes in the industry both from the supplier side, where established business models and thinking are being challenged by new technology and content delivery platforms, and from the consumer perspective, where the role of the viewer is changing from that of passive receptor to active selector from a globally- distributed content menu. At its heart will be a major new attraction – The Connected World Hub.

Through a series of seminars and presentations, Connected World Hub will examine the issues arising from the convergence of consumer electronics devices and IP connectivity and how this will impact business models.

Three Armchair

Revolutionary sessions will provide an introduction to the Connected World by

examining the new landscape in which users are increasingly setting their own agenda and deciding their own viewing schedules.

Exhibition Business Briefings

As the new home for the popular IBC Exhibition Business Briefings, the Hub will provide multiple opportunities for discussion and networking for all those involved now or likely to be affected in the future. Now in their fifth year, these free-admission sessions attract IBC visitors keen to understand how fixed and wireless broadband

technologies including IPTV, Mobile and Digital Signage are impacting content creation, management and delivery. The Exhibition Business Briefing agenda is set by the participating companies, and reflects the latest technical, regulatory, marketing and business trends. IBC organizes nominated topics into themed 1?-hour sessions consisting of three presentations. Extensive promotion by

both IBC and IT Europa, combined with the new show- floor venue surrounded by related technologies, will make the Exhibition Business Briefings a prominent and topical addition to IBC.

TelecomTV TelecomTV will be supporting and contributing to sessions in the Connected World Hub. Founded in 2001, TelecomTV transformed business-to- business communications by launching the first-ever online TV channel dedicated to the global ICT sector. The 2010 Exhibition Business Briefing programme will be recorded and made available as video- on-demand after IBC, so greatly extending their life beyond the live event. Business Briefing

presentation slots are included in all IPTV, Mobile and Digital Signage Zone Gold Sponsorship packages.

Demo Stage @ The Hub In addition, the Hub’s Demo Stage will host demonstrations that illustrate how content is, and will be, managed, distributed and consumed across diverse consumer electronic devices in the new Connected World.
