Cost of repair
Damaged laptops will cost British businesses a staggering £2.073 billion in 2010 for the repair and data replacement costs, predicts IDC and Panasonic. Their prediction is based on the 1.32m breakages that occur every year with an average repair and data replacement bill of £1,576. And that
OFFICE GENIUS
Q. The CEO is emailing a heap of invitations for a special event, but wants the RSVP to be my email address instead of his. The RSVP address is in the body of the email, but I know most recipients will just hit the reply button. The boss doesn’t want to be flooded with RSVP emails. Any ideas?
A. If you are using a common email software package, most allow you to specify a different reply address. Outlook works the same. Firstly, open a new email window, being the one you will use to compose the email invitation. Then, click on the OPTIONS button. A pop-up window will appear, and under the heading ‘Delivery Options’ you should see a field that says “Have replies sent to...”. Put a tick in the check box and enter your email address in the field. That should do it. If you use a different email program, try typing “change Reply To address” in the help menu. That should return the specific instructions for your package.
Multi-tasking mouse
Canon’s new X Mark I Mouse is a three- in-one personal calculator that also doubles up as a wireless laser mouse and numeric keypad for personal computers. The multi-function is compatible with both Windows and Macintosh hardware, has integrated Bluetooth connectivity and can switch seamlessly between functions, enabling PAs to use it for controlling their computers, doing calculations or as a wire- less numeric keypad for data entry on the move. This nifty piece of gadgetry is avail- able from November and is priced £39.99.
figure alone is even before you start to factor in the costs for effects on business continuity, lost business or customer satisfaction. People working in office and administrative support are the second most likely to require repair, with keyboards being the most likely to need the work.

the same.
