American Aerospace Joins Boeing Team, Could See New Orders
American Aerospace Technical Castings Inc. (AATC),
Phoenix, Ariz., announced it has joined the Boeing Co., Chicago, in its bid to build the U.S. Air Force’s new fleet of aerial refueling tankers. As a member of Boeing’s U.S. Tanker Team, the invest-
ment casting facility will become eligible to increase orders if Boeing is awarded the U.S. Air Force tanker contract in 2010. “We look forward to supporting Boeing in its bid for the
U.S. Air Force tanker contract, and we value this unique opportunity to continue to support our valiant troops,” said Patti Bredengerd, AATC president. “AATC’s work on the aerial refueling tanker contract will serve to strengthen our [22-year] partnership with Boeing.” Boeing works with more than 575 companies in Arizona,
paying more than $1.1 billion for services and products. If Boeing is awarded the tanker contract, it would support at least 50,000 new and existing jobs across the country, according to a statement released by AATC. “Today’s announcement provides the Arizona economy
and our workers with a much-needed boost,” said U.S. Rep. Ed Pastor. “This partnership between AATC and Boeing is an example of two great companies working together to create jobs and promote economic growth in our state.” METAL
Deere to Invest $100 Million in Casting Facility
(continued from page 11) The Iowa Department of Economic Development pro-
vided tax incentives to Deere & Co. to retain the John Deere Foundry jobs in Iowa. Everitt said the department’s program was a significant factor in Deere’s decision to re-invest in the metalcasting facility. “We evaluated several options for our [metalcast-
ing] operations,” said Richard Czarnecki, global director, large tractor product line. “This investment allows us to better serve our customers with high quality, innova- tive castings. The investment helps John Deere meet customer requirements for more sophisticated designs of large tractors and helps to ensure the company main- tains manufacturing flexibility and responsiveness to market demands.”
