Most Cal Look Beetles hark back to the ’70s for their styling cues. Oli Saunders’ ’57 looks back to a darker time for its fashion advice

This Standard model ‘57 came to Oli by a bit of a circuitous route, having originally been found by one of his neighbours, Paul, near to where he grew up, half buried in a nearby garden. Though they didn’t know it at the time, what looked to be a red ’60’s Deluxe Beetle would turn out to be a genuine German Standard model ’57.
