What are credits?

Credits are a measure of the work which the student must complete to achieve their university qualification.

How many credits do I need to take?

All 1st year students must take 60 credits. You can view the number of credits selected to date on the “My modules” section of the screen. If you try to register for more than the total credits an error message will appear.

Some courses have all ‘core’ modules and you do not have a choice in the modules you take. These modules will be assigned to you automatically and you will see ‘core’ displayed under “module type”. See Appendix 2 for more information.

Some courses have ‘core’ and ‘optional’ modules, the ‘core’ modules will be automatically displayed and then you must choose your ‘optional’ modules. See Appendix 2 for more information.

Please note that it is vital that you attend your advisory session.
