BETH GOLDEN is a Virginia-based writer and great admirer of the Arts & Crafts movement, especially its translation into furniture and glass. Having previously studied and worked with antique glass beads from around the world, she collects art glass and depression glass, including some found buried in piles around her 1850s rural property. Beth first visited the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts when she was a 6th grader, and has watched it evolve into the world class museum it is today - due in large part to its significant Art Nouveau collection. She says she has gained a new appreciation for modern stained glass artists, and plans to be an equally frequent visitor to the Smithsonian in 2011, where Judith Schaechter will be featured as part of the Renwick Craft Invitational.
STUART GUNTER visited Sunset Hills Winery this summer and wrote
our Virginia wine feature story. Stuart plays drums for a lot of Virginia bands, paints, takes pictures, and writes poems. He likes to listen to
records and read books. He lives in Schuyler with his beautiful wife and two children, four chickens, a dog, two cats, and roughly 10,000 bees. He loves the wineries that polka-dot the region all around his home.
For more than twenty years KEVIN FOSTER O’DONNELL has worked in the retail industry to champion cutting edge design, carefully integrated architecture and innovative use of materials and construction methods. Through his design and consulting firm, thread collaborative, he uses sustainable design to craft compelling customer experiences. Key projects have included Whole Foods Market, The Kroger Co. Wegmans, and many more.
Kevin lectures and teaches regularly from local, regional, and national platforms. Since 2007 Kevin has been part of the non-profit organization The Climate Project (TCP). He was selected as one of 1000 to be trained by former VP Al Gore to present the slideshow called An Inconvenient Truth, the basis of both book and movie of the same name. He is helping to create a training program to educate other TCP presenters about this issue. (
