On August 1, 2010 Anna Eberle Funk entered into eternal rest at the age of 96. She was born in her family home in Lanham. She was predeceased by her husband Ray. She is sur- vived by her daughter Lois, niece Joan Holmes and grandniece Jennifer Huntington and grand- nephew William Holmes. Anna retired in 1969 from St. Elizabeth's Hos- pital in Washington, DC where she was the Secretary to the Director of Nursing.She taught Sunday School and ran the nursery at Lanham United Methodist Church where she was a member for 85 years. A Department of Army retiree, died of lung cancer on July 31, 2010 at a nursing facility in Burke, Virginia. At the time of his passing he was surrounded by family.

Mr. Sebastiani was a native of Porto San Giorgio, Italy, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1948 at the age of 14. Before joining the U.S. Army as a civilian employee, he served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959 and was stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG), MD. From 1960 until 1982 he was employed by the US Army Materiel Systems Analysis Activity at APG, MD. From 1982 until his retirement he worked for HQ US Army Materiel Command and retired from the Joint Chiefs of Staff as an Operations Research Analyst. He grad- uated from Waynesburg College with a Bachelors degree in Mathematics in 1957, and from the University of Delaware in 1973 with a Masters degree in Statistics.


L. Grace Garner, age 82 of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at her home with her family by her side. He and his first wife, Elia, were married for 39 years and had three sons. She died in 2000. In 2004 he married Martha Crawford of Alexandria.

Julie K. Jones, Ph.D., died on July 28, 2010 at home in Fairfax, VA, with her family at her side. Born in St. Louis, MO, Dr. Jones grew up in Red Bud, IL, and Clearwater, FL. She earned a bachelor's degree in special education from the University of South Florida in 1969, a master's degree in special education from George Peabody College for Teachers (now part of Vanderbilt University) in 1973, and a doctoral degree in special education from the University of Pittsburgh in 1978. Her career focused on educating preschoolers with disabilities and children of any age with the most severe disabilities. Dr. Jones began her special education career as a teacher in the Dade County, Florida, Public Schools, after which she worked as an educational assessment specialist for the Mid-Atlantic- North and Caribbean Regional Center for Deaf- Blind Children. She served as regular or adjunct faculty member at George Mason University, Texas Tech University, the University of Mary- land, and the University of Virginia. She moved to the D.C. area in 1981 to become executive director of the Association for Education of the Visually Handicapped. She oversaw the organization's merger with the American Asso- ciation ofWorkers for the Blind to become the Association of Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired. She also worked as consultant to schools and families with children having severe or multiple disabil- ities in the United States and abroad, most recently in Bangladesh. In 2006 she retired from the Academy for Educational Develop- ment, where she oversaw several projects, including technical assistance services for Migrant Head Start programs serving children with disabilities. Dr. Jones was a member of the Universalist National Memorial Church in Washington, where she had sung in the choir and served as head deacon. She is survived by her husband of nearly forty-one years Thomas W. Jones, son Thomas W. Jones Jr., and daughter-in-law Sujittra Jones, all of Fairfax. A memorial service will be held at the Universalist National Memorial Church, 1810 16th Street, N.W., Washington on Saturday, August 7 at 10 a.m. Burial will be private. He will be dearly missed by his loving, devoted wife: Marlene; his three wonderful children, Jeffrey (Mary) Ross, Joanne (Sean) Coleman, Carolyn Ross (Michael) McKinney; his seven grandchil- dren: Michael, Nicole, Emma, Andrew, Madison, Alexander, and Wyatt - who he loved with all his heart; his colleagues and friends, and thousands of students whose lives he influenced.

Dr. Ross served as a professor of govern- ment and public administration for 38 years, including 14 years as deparment chair, at American University.
