FRESH FROM BIDDING their Sunday night Optimo E!spacio club at Glasgow’s Sub Club a fond, sweaty farewell, the Optimo DJs, JD Twitch and JG Wilkes, are embarking upon a new stage in their careers with a slot at the superb Stop Making Sense festival in Croatia and other gigs around the world, including that strange land known as America. Known for their eclectic music tastes ,which veer from New York no-wave to the techno of Twitch’s days at the helm of Pure, Scotland’s celebrated techno club, their recent Fabric CD provided a masterclass in making coherence of seemingly unconnected sounds. Living up to their collective name, Tony, Jono and Paavo are going above and beyond the usual expectations for DJ trios this autumn, as they’re set to play the O2 Academy Brixton on 30th October, playing their fi nal London date in style. The O2 will be the biggest UK show to date for the globe-trotting trancesters who recently had the honour of performing for the launch of Virgin Galactic’s new spaceship. We also caught them at a private beach party for fans in Ibiza and can confi rm they’re very sound lads to boot. Watch their promo video online.
