Future

Energus

Hailed as an “inspirational development”, the Energus building at Lillyhall in West Cumbria was officially opened by Energy and Climate Change Secretary Ed Miliband.

During his official visit he also met students from the University of Cumbria. Neil Harris, University of Cumbria secretary, described the Energus building as “dramatic and futuristic” which reflected the concept of a learning and business centre fit for the twenty-first century.

The University’s Learning Gateway (West) for students and the wider business community is located here. It enables students involved in a range of disciplines–including engineering and business management–to access the very latest digital library information and educational resources.

Energus represents the dawn of a new future for West Cumbria–complementing the ambitions of the Energy Coast vision to develop energy knowledge within the area and to underpin future economic development,” said Neil.

The University of Cumbria is determined to play its part in this development, boosting the educational offering of the region, collaborating with partners in industry and business and assisting with the regeneration of the county.”
