French Polynesia offers a host of unique plants and flowers to delight your eye. View them from onboard or on an optional nature walk.

Te Tuamotus

Rangiroa Rangi, as the locals affectionately call it, is the second-largest atoll in the world. Here, snorkeling and SCUBA diving is a must. Spend a day beneath the water’s surface, dazzled by an underwater technicolor fish frenzy in the reef passes surrounding the island. Ashore, watch an oyster grafter at work before selecting your favorite round, baroque, or semi-baroque black pearl at a local farm. Visit Rangiroa on our Society Islands & Tuamotus itinerary (p.42).

Fakarava

Fakarava’s diverse ecosystem has earned it the designation of a UNESCO- Classified Nature Reserve. There are two massive passes on the island, including Garuae Pass, French Polynesia’s widest, where experienced divers can descend up to 130 feet into a world of cauliflower coral, gray sharks, and fish schooling by the thousands. On land, explore the island’s charming villages, ancient temples, and 19-century coral church. Visit Fakarava on the following itineraries: Society Islands & Tuamotus (p.42) or Marquesas, Tuamotus & Society Islands (p.50).

Tahiti is renowned for its black pearls, which are produced exclusively in these waters. You may have an opportunity to visit a black-pearl farm.
