Grahl said shelters have received donations from artisans all over the world, in places such as the Unites States, Malaysia, Singapore, and Japan.
“We don’t want anything you can go to a store and buy off a shelf,” said Grahl.
She speaks with artisans in great detail prior to their donations because she wants to learn their story and interpret their energy. “I really believe that when an item is made by a human, their love and positive energy is placed in that item,” she said. “That’s what’s left in the room for the woman and child.”
And, Grahl believes, the process of creating an item and giving it to the cause is a positive process for the artisan.
“This is really about healing the donor as well as the woman and child,” said Grahl.
