Kim is a regular visitor to Norton House Day Centre – a service for single homeless people who are overcoming difficulties –
and it is through Norton House that she’s improved her writing and computer skills, and has grown in confidence too. Despite being incredibly shy,
Kim has worked on Norton House’s magazine ‘The Little Issue’, writing articles and interviewing people – something she’d never have done before.
This led to her involvement with Herbert Art Gallery and Museum where she joined a video project, learning camera skills and interviewing and editing techniques –
all well out of Kim’s comfort zone, but she never gave up.
As someone who used to get into trouble, Kim feels learning is now keeping her on the straight and narrow.
“The main thing for me is that learning has brought me out of my shell and helped me to overcome barriers,” said Kim.
“My life is still the same; I still have problems, but learning has shown me never give up,” reflected Kim.
