A number of mums, who turned out to be a delightful group of people from all walks of life, including some lone parents,
attended a series of financial capability courses delivered by Bedworth, Rugby and Nuneaton Citizens Advice Bureau at St John’s Children’s Centre, Kenilworth, Warwickshire.
They had a wide variety of views and experience, and their enthusiasm to learn and share was inspiring.

It is widely accepted that people who are ‘financially capable’, make ends meet, keep track, plan ahead, choose the correct financial products and stay informed.
The Citizens Advise Bureau’s aim is to ensure that everyone attending the financial capability sessions will be able to work towards achieving all of the above.
It does this by delivering courses that are rich in collaborative and interactive exercises and activities.

One of the Moneywise Mums commented, “Beyond learning about budgeting,

understanding credit and APRs, learning how to prioritise our expenses and knowing our statutory rights as customers,
I feel the most valuable part was getting to know other mums in my community and creating friendships and a support network.”

The mums shared the information and skills with members of their families and friends, having a direct impact, not only on their own lives, but on those of others as well.
It is truly remarkable just how far they travelled in such a short time.
Dave Grove from Bedworth, Rugby and Nuneaton Citizens Advice Bureau believes they can be an inspiration to others in any learning environment.
