Of Washington, DC, died May 21, 2010 in hospice. Roy covered NASA, government IT policy, wireless products and FCC/broadband issues for eWeek, a tech- nology industry newspaper. Born in Hous- ton, Texas, Roy began his journalism career in high school as editor of the school newspaper and a stringer for the city paper, The Victoria Advocate. He was an Eagle Scout. He graduated in 1972 from the University of Texas, where he was sports editor, and then worked for the Austin American Statesman as sports editor and columnist. He was a sports columnist and feature writer for the Memphis, Tenn., Commercial Appeal, where he covered the funeral of baseball great, Dizzie Dean. Later, Roy became the publisher of the West Lake Picayune, in Austin, Texas. He worked for the Texas Real Estate Commission, later publishing a real estate industry newsletter focusing on regulatory issues. Roy was press secretary for Texas state Sen. Bill Patman. Roy also taught computer skills and served as the Washington Bureau Chief for Internetnews.com. Roy was an avid baseball fan and the author of "A.G. [Spalding] and Johnny [Ward]: the Founding of Baseball's First Pro League." Roy is survived by his parents, Jo Ann and Roy Mark of Victoria, Texas; a sister, Glynda Martin, of Pleasanton, Texas; and a brother, Boyd Mark, of Carlsbad, CA. Ginger retired after 30 years from the National Association of Letter Characters. Of Gaithersburg, MD, died Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital. Born February 5, 1925, in Vale, VA, he was the son of the late William H. Trammell and Grace M. Dimsey. He worked as a Building Engineer, and retired from Marriott Corporation after 15 years. He enjoyed spending time outdoors working in his yard and around the house, hunting deer, and playing Solitaire on that "darn" computer. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carrie Rosalie Roberson of Fairfax, VA; one daughter, Patricia Ann Gernat of Concord, NC; two sons, Lenwood Otis Trammelle Jr., of Gaithersburg, MD and Ronald Lynn Trammelle of Cascade, MD; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She graduated from Petersburg High School in 1956, was a majorette in the Vikings’ Marching Band, a Princess in the West Virginia Poultry Festival in nearby Moorefield, WV and active in Methodist youth. Libby was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church, Alexandria (Fairfax County) VA from 1966 to her passing. She served the church as Adminis- trative Secretary for over twenty years and was an Elder and first woman Clerk of the Calvary session. In the 1970's, she was instrumental in starting Little Church, a service separately conducted by laity for Calvary youth. She was also Treasurer, a director and stockholder of Goldcup Broadcasting, Inc., which in 1978 established WQRA (FM) a new radio station operating on 94.3 mhz inWarrenton, VA.

A Memorial Service will be held at Calvary, Satur- day, June 5, 2010 commencing at 5 p.m. with the Reverend Diane Hutchins and Reverend Henry Brinton officiating. The family will receive Libby’s friends at a reception at the church’s McPherson Hall after the service. Khim Lim, age 79 of Oak Hill, VA peacefully departed this life onWednesday, May 26, 2010. Survived by her husband, You Sieng Nguonly; her children, Kevin and Sue Nguonly, Hay and Sotheavy Nguonly, Kenneth and Susan Lim, Lim Sour Nguonly, Anthony and Reno Nguonly, Lim Paul and Joanne Nguonly, Sitha and Samnang Yuk, Lee and Lorraine Nguonly, Lindsey and Mona Nguonly, and Sonny and Ngoc Nguonly; 24 grandchildren; one sister, and many friends and family. Funeral services will be held at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042 on Sunday, May 30, 2010 at 10 a.m.

KATHERINE CONGER KANE (Age 92)

A journalist and writer, died of lung failure, May 26, 2010, at home in Greenspring Village, Springfield, VA. At her death she was under Hospice care and attended by her family.

McCOLLUM

Born in 1918 during a January blizzard on her mother's 23rd birthday in Sac City, Iowa, Katherine and her family moved two years later to southwest- ern Idaho. She continued to live there until after graduating from the College of Idaho. Katherine then went to Chicago to attend the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University. In 1963 following a commencement address by President John F. Kennedy in which he called for a nuclear test ban treaty with the Soviet Union, she received a Master of Arts degree in journalism from American University,Washington, DC.

While in Chicago, she met and subsequently mar- ried her husband of 56 years, Charles F. Kane, a career Army officer. During the 30 years of her husband's service, Katherine set up a series of 19 homes for her family in France, Pakistan, Hawaii, the East Coast, the West Coast, the South and the Midwest. Given all of her homes, Katherine lived for more than 50 years in the Metropolitan Washington area.

Between pursuing a journalism career and rearing four children Katherine taught Spanish, GED for military troops, English and journalism. Katherine faithfully shared her love of and talent for flower arranging by serving on the Altar Guild at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Annandale, VA for over 40 years. Katherine also had been an active volunteer wherever she lived. She was an American Red Cross Nurse's Aide, a National Girl Scout Trainer, buyer for the National Arboretum Gift Shop, a flower show judge with a Master Certificate and a landscape design critic. More recently as a DAR member she assisted 23 employees at Greenspring Village to obtsin their U.S. citizenship. Katherine was a lifelong Democrat and long time advocate of the role of women in the political process.

Katherine is survived by three daughters, Katherine Young of Dallas, Texas, Candace Kane of Denver, Colorado, and Kristin Keyer of Alexandria, VA; a son, Charles Conger Kane of Alexandria, VA; and a nephew Brian Madison Conger of Orlando, FL. She is also survived by four granddaughters, Jennifer Young of Los Alamos, NM, Sharon Shaw of Richmond, VA, Kristy Hudson of Sterling, VA and Megan Hurst of Alexandria, VA; a grandson, Patrick Bodilly Kane of Alexandria, VA; three great- granddaughters and two great-grandsons.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Village Chapel at Greenspring Village, 7470 Spring Village Dr., Springfield, VA 22150. Please call 703 923-0751.
