WITH JACKING, boompty, Chicago house enjoying a renaissance, Parisian Chris Carrier’s star is rightly shining. Having released alongside original Chi-town legends like Derrick Carter and Mark Farina on Robsoul, as well as grac- ing the catalogues of Get Physical, Crack & Speed, Brique Rouge, Freak n’ Chic and Robsoul under his many aliases, he’s launched a plethora of his own labels while maintain- ing a hectic DJ schedule.
Artist album ‘Gosse De Paris’, released 30th April on Rob- soul, comes on like vintage Sneak if he’d spent his youth sipping coffee on the banks of the Seine rather than eat- ing Taco Bell in America. ‘Quadrilette’ and ‘Type 54 Dub’ practically smell of Gauloise-fi lled ‘70s discothèques while elsewhere, as on the title track, it’s a slower, more languid affair, slowly wandering the side-streets of Paris at the break of dawn.
