New AIP Journal Features Please the Most Tech-Savvy Researchers

ith the addition to our Scitation hosting platform of a new MarkLogic content server and a Polopoly web content management system, AIP journals now benefit from the limitless potential of an engineered-for-XML infrastructure that can turn granular markup structures into meaningful content services for end users.
To facilitate discovery, “Smart ToCs” bring more information to the forefront, enabling users to harvest citations, preview abstracts, and hide content that isn't of interest. To further enhance discovery, a new table browser allows researchers to view all tables and figures in an article directly from the abstract; article abstracts also feature a related articles browser.
Here are just some of the many other robust features made possible by Scitation’s new XML infrastructure: � Faceted search filters results to help find information more quickly
� Inline reference links speed authoring and research
� “Smart ToCs” enable scientists to harvest citations and preview abstracts
� Greatly improved math renderings � Reveal additional articles by a given author
� Inline search lets users highlight a term to view all articles containing that term
These new AIP journal features follow close on the heels of other enhancements we’ve made in just the past few months, such as mobile editions for our journals and our new iResearch app, which allows users to browse journal articles and save PDFs locally to their iPhone or iPod touch.
