A Year in the Garden
Changes in 2010 include a new grass amphitheatre for outdoor performances, and the
soil in the Parterre has been renewed to help support the two annual bedding schemes
in March and May
March Scillas are flowering and the spring
bedding and early daffodils begin to show colour.
April Spring bedding in full flower. The sculpture
is uncovered.
May Bedding changeover. Bluebells and lilies-of-
the-valley in full flower.
June Baroness Edmond’s button collection, one
of this season’s exhibitions in the House, is re-
created in carpet bedding on the parterre. The
Gardens look splendid with the Rose Garden in
flower and full of heady scents.
July and AugustThe bedding is at its best.
SeptemberThe bedding still looks good.
Autumn crocus, Colchicum speciosum ‘Album’
in flower. Take a walk under the tree ferns’
arching fronds.
October Bedding changeover, the summer
plants make way for spring. Autumn colour
is a great attraction.
November and DecemberThe sculptures
are covered to protect from frost.The Gardens
are perfect for strolling and enjoying
the views over the Aylesbury Vale.
