New for 2010, ‘Mint Chocolate Candy’ and ‘Mint Chocolate Cherry’ boast rich foliage
that contrasts beautifully against the fl owers. In addition to these two colors, a mix is
available as well. The Mint series is a very adaptable product, suitable for containers and
landscaping.
When sowing, use a well-drained, peat-based medium with a pH of 6.0-6.2 and EC less
than 0.75. Cover seed completely with coarse vermiculite after sowing. Keep medium
uniformly moist during the initial stages of germination until seedlings are hooking
above the vermiculite covering, then dry down the covering. Allow
about seven days to fi nish germination. Crop time is fi ve to six weeks
for 512 plugs grown under HID lights and six to seven weeks for 288
plus grown under HID lights. Add one week to crop times if not
using HID lights during low light periods.
Growing on to fi nish, transplant into a well-drained, peat-based
growing mix with media pH 6.0-6.2 and EC less than 1.5. Keep soil
temperatures at 65-68° F for rooting out after transplanting, then
decrease to 62-65° F for growing on. Keep light levels at 3,000-5,000
foot-candles.
Practice a good wet/dry moisture cycle, but avoid wilting. Gera-
niums do not like wet feet, but they cannot tolerate wilt either. Feed
one to two times a week with 150- to 200-ppm nitrogen from 15-5-15,

17-5-17 or 13-2-13. Crop time is eight to 10 weeks, depending on plug
