Saxophonists Pete King and Ronnie
Scott (below) opened the club in
1959 as a modest basement jazz club
that evolved to become a mecca for
musicians and fans from across the
globe. The club changed hands in
2005 and was given a slick re-design
by Parisian designer Jacques Garcia,
but still maintains its tradition of
bringing the world’s f_i nest jazz
musicians to the capital. Wynton
Marsalis, Van Morrison and David
Sanborn are just some of the artists
Le Fumoir Snug has popped up in
who have played there in recent
months.

club in Portman Square, W1. The
outdoor snug is styled as a 19th
century smoking lounge. Snuggle up
on a shabby sofa with a cocktail and
a cigar. You’ll feel right at home.
LOVELY BUBBLY SHOES
Piper-Heidsieck has launched a
Louboutin champagne fl ute. Featuring
the signature red sole, the crystal shoe
celebrates an historic French tradition
where a man drinks from a woman’s shoe
as the ultimate declaration of love. The
shoe and bottle of Piper-Heidsieck are
available at Selfridges (£350) or can be
tried at Mews of Mayfair in W1 for £90
including the bottle of champagne. Sadly,
you cannot take away the shoe.
