#44 Chad Wienen Interview
By: Jeff Henson
Digital Dirt:
How does the East Coast racing compare to the West Coast Racing? (Have
you raced enough West Coast to make a good comparison?)
Chad Wienen:
The biggest thing is the tracks here, it seems like it all backwards. You have
to have a bike that handles the inside corners out east, out here its a lot of
berm riding. The guys out here that are really fast, Team mate Jeremie and
Dustin Nelson had a really good battle and was surprised just at how fast they
really are.
Digital Dirt:
What about the Jumps, I’ve been to Redbud and seen Larocco’s Leap, How
does that compare to the West Coast tracks?
Chad Wienen:
The jumps are quite a bit bigger out east, I would say. I like the dirt a lot bet-
ter out east. You get some black dirt tracks and Redbud is one of my favorite
tracks. You get alot of real technical jumps (out east). However this track is
one of the more difficult or technical tracks I’ve riden out here and it’s inter-
esting and fun.
Digital Dirt:
How do you like racing with the Can-Am Team?
Chad Wienen:
Really good, had a good first start and wound up winning my race in Montreal
in front of the hometown crowd up there. I try to make the bike better and
better, as we have been out here numerous amounts of time doing testing. I
real dedicated as well as the whole team to build a championship bike.
Digital Dirt:
How do you like the DS450 compared to some of the other bikes you’ve rid-
den?
Chad Wienen:
Everything has been going along great,I’ve been finishing races. That the
biggest thing, if I can finish, and get out of the gate good then I have a good
change of doing well. With any bike you ride on there’s gonna be give and
takes on it. One of the best things I like about this (DS450)
the aluminum chassis which allows it to flex alot more. The motor runs great
and we got big things ahead in the future.
Digital Dirt:
What should we look for from you in 2010 as far as your racing?
Chad Wienen:
To go out and start every moto and finish every moto. Big thing is always the
championship, but I don’t too much pressure on my shoulders. I just go out
there and give it everything I got. It’s all you can do. Hope for some good
luck.
Digital Dirt:
What series will you be competing in?
Chad Wienen:
The AMA Pro Series, and you’ll see me coming out doing some west coast
stuff [such as DWT Series] as well. I really like to change it up, for example
the WORCS is fun, but It’s a long race. I enjoy racing period.
