Pull the Frisket off the last four pedals and airbrush your violet which will act as
areas of the pedal in shadow.
Cleaning your airbrush out and adding yellow we will now apply yellow to all the
pedals we just added shadow areas to. Stay back about four or five inches and
apply the yellow in very light coats. Notice how our shadow color works now over
laid with the yellow. This technique is called under painting and you’ll find yourself
using it all the time as the airbrush is the perfect artist tool to pull this off.
If you don’t have the Artool free hand shield I mention at the beginning of this
lesson you can make one pretty easy from Bristol board as pictured here. We’ll
use this free hand shield to help you add texture, structure to the center of the
flower.
