Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow
I smiled when I read the letter
on the left, written by my dad in
1927. No denying he had a sense
of humor – and no denying that
his sense of humor was at the heart
of his ingenuity and creativity.
His sense of priorities, and
commitment to “always do the
right thing,” formed the operating principles that have served our
guests so very well for 85 years. Our North American journeys are
not only the core products of Tauck, they are nearest and dearest
to my heart. I was very happy to see all of the attention that the
national parks recently received in the press and pop culture. Our
years of experience, unique access and in-depth knowledge of
the parks, combined with our carefully choreographed itineraries
and commitment to all-inclusive service, make our 2010 North
American vacations a fulfillment of his vision, my vision, and the
vision our guests have when they choose Tauck.
Another thing my dad insisted on – Tauck’s vacations would
be absolutely free from ‘ifs’ and ‘ups’ or hidden incidentals. To
this day, the price you see on our U.S. and Canadian trips is the
price you get, with no hidden costs.
Taking us into the next decade of the new millennium is my
son-in-law, Dan Mahar, bringing his own “Yankee sensibility”
(and Irish humor) to the business philosophies we’ve followed
since 1925. We’d love to have you join us in our special 85th
anniversary year on the tours that started it all – and in the
words of my dad – “you ain’t seen nothin’ yet!”
Arthur Tauck Jr.
