Dr. Patrick Farrell confers with Pilar Ayala, office manager, in his Foothills office.

However, he notes a couple of disadvantages.

It’s a laser, so preventing exposure to the eyes is important. To do that, he and the patients wear goggles.

And the technology is so new that some insur-

ance plans don’t cover it yet. But patients can still pay for the treatments out of pocket, with a cost of $60 per treatment.

If interested, call Farrell’s office at

928-342-1588. For more information on Farrell’s practice, visit http://www.yumafootdoctor.com/. 

Dr. Patrick Farrell was practicing podiatry in Tucson until he decided that his specialty was overrepresented in that city. At the urging of a friend, he came to the Yuma area, where today he has a practice in the Foothills.

Dr. Farrell shares a little about himself with Health Connections readers in 10 Minutes With.

What is your medical specialization or discipline, and how did you come to choose it? I am a podiatrist with board certification in foot surgery. I

have had an interest in medicine since grammar school, and was an athletic trainer in college dealing with injuries. I then became interested in the lower extremity, so after completing my bachelor’s degree, I applied to podiatry school.

What brought you to Yuma? I practiced in Tucson for 10 years until podiatry became

overpopulated. I then moved to Yuma with good friend Ray Ochoa’s encouragement, and have been living here for 14 years now.

What is your favorite way to relax? My favorite way to relax is to get a full body massage and a

facial.

What are your favorite foods? My favorite meal is the tri-tip and baked beans at the Foothills

Rotary barbecue that I am able to enjoy in February every year.

What is your passion or are your passions? My passion is my family. I am one of nine children, and I am

married with four children.

What hobbies do you have? I am a charter member of Rotary. I also enjoy golfing and

spending time doing yard work.

What is your favorite place to be? My favorite place is amongst friends.

What would surprise people the most about you? I have a twin brother and I have a good sense of humor. 
