5 Staff fulfills benchmark promises By Kristen Hines, Senior Staff Reporter “

I don’t see that much of a difference. You look pretty—not that you don’t always! It’s just that-”

The microphone was removed from Clay Yantzer’s hands after he voiced his surprise at seeing Co-ASB advisor Amanda Beaumont’s now brow-less face. However, not all reactions were that positive, as one dramatic elementary student fell over in shock. The pep rally for Pasta for Pennies, held January

19, was one sure to be remembered for years to come since more faces, bodies, and hair was altered than in any pep rally of the past. Beaumont shaving off her eyebrows was quite an

event, but one almost equal in its strangeness was secondary principal Eric Baldwin shaving off his mustache and beard for the first time in 27 years. His daughter, Kera Baldwin (‘15), held the mirror as he shaved in front of the entire school, and saw her father clean shaven for the first time in her entire life. All this occurred after a hilarious performance

from English teacher Delila Burnworth, who sported gangster attire and rapped a school-inspired original rap written by ASB member Austin Mehl (‘14). Her backbeat was provided by beat boxer, Kevin Martin (‘12).

This pep rally was in celebration of the historic

amount of money raised this year during the Pasta for Pennies competition. The goal was not only reached, but exceeded by over $1,000. The entertaining bench- marks created by ASB inspired fun competition, but there was also a large focus on the ultimate goal of Pasta for Pennies: to find the cure for Leukemia. Hair grows back and spray tans fade away, making them small sacrifices in comparison to the huge amount of research that can be made because of the donation from the little school that could...and did.

“Yo, homies my name’s Mrs. Burnworth, but my homies call me Big B. Ain’t nobody in this joint fresher than me.” With a beat provided by Kevin Martin (‘12), and lyrics from Austin Mehl (‘14), Burnworth represented the hood. Photo by Ryland Talamo

With a graceful acceptance, Co-ASB advisor Amanda Beaumont lets ASB member, junior Tyler Newman, shave off her second eyebrow. The first was removed by ASB member Clay Yantzer (‘12). Photo by Ryland Talamo

Donning old-man sweaters, the Yearbook staff stays cozy all day. Dustin Jenkinson (‘11), a member of yearbook staff, provided all the sweaters for the team from his own personal collection. Photo provided by Yearbook Staff
