++New partners
Vitalise is pleased to announce it has gone into partnership with two more leading disability charities.
+Action for Blind People:
www.actionforblindpeople.org.uk
Action is one of the largest charities in the UK providing support for blind and partially sighted people. Vitalise’s partnership with Action will enable Vitalise Holidays to offer a range of holidays in 2009 based at Action’s specialist UK hotels.
+Stroke Association:
www.stroke.org.uk
The Stroke Association is the only UK-wide charity solely concerned with combating stroke in people of all ages. This partnership will enable both charities to spread information about the vital services they offer to a greater number of disabled people and carers.
++Attitude is Everything
Attitude is Everything is a campaign to improve accessibility for deaf and disabled music fans at festivals and music venues. It was founded in 2000 by disabled music fan Suzanne Bull with support from the Arts Council. At that time access to music venues was still relatively poor, so Attitude is Everything created a voluntary Charter of Best Practice, encouraging live venue promoters to publicly show their commitment to accessibility. An increasing number of venues are now signing up the Charter and working hard to improve access. Thanks to their improvements, many festivals have reported a big increase in bookings from disabled people.

++Ian Fothergill
Vitalise was deeply saddened to hear of the death of Ian Fothergill in February. Ian served as Vitalise’s Operations Director between 1996 and 2002. After a period of retirement Ian came back to work for the charity as Special Projects Manager, overseeing redevelopments at Vitalise Sandpipers, Churchtown and New Horizons. Ian was dearly loved by Vitalise staff. His calm, reassuring nature and sense of fair play will be missed by all those who worked alongside him. Our sympathies are with his family at this time.
