Innovations
In a short space of time, the Belgian company Alterface has
made its mark on the amusement industry with a number of
interesting attractions. It was the Desperados interactive
shooting game (now called CinemAction) that first caught the
eye of the theme park community, and in just three seasons over
25 theatres have been installed at parks and attractions around
the world Pirates
Plunder
‘Doc' the Sheriff is now
joined by a range of new
characters and
CinemAction themes including Pirates Plunder, Galaxy Rovers and the first true interactive 4D
experience, Sea Safari. What’s more, all titles can be played in all theatres, and prices are as flexible
as the multitude of effects available, making this a very affordable A-level attraction.
By integrating wireless transmitters,Alterface is now adding a new dimension to a number of
Dark Rides. At Mirabilandia in Italy, riders on Reset Anno Zero can shoot at a wide range of
Wireless Dark targets, both “real” and media-based.The firm’s wireless applications are by far the easiest and
Ride Controller
the most powerful on the market for new and refurbished attractions. With this technology any
dark ride can be turned into an interactive dark ride, without any major changes to the decor!
The battery-powered pedestrian version also enables interactive walk-through attractions, such
Interactive Dark Ride as the one currently being installed in Dubai.
And how about an Interactive Haunted House for the ultimate in group interaction? A
combination of an interactive dark ride, 3D cinema and a haunted house, the concept has
already generated a lot of enthusiasm since it was unveiled at IAAPA in Orlando and a 25-seater
version will open this summer at a key location in Missouri, USA.
Alterface has also developed a package of groundbreaking interactive attractions for
indoor applications.“We’d rather keep them under wraps for now,” says Alterface’s Benoit
Cornet,” but get ready for a new generation of attractions taking some familiar concepts and
turning them inside out.”
“Because they come from a technology background, the team at Alterface sees things
differently, and is not afraid to innovate,” say Roger Houben from 3DBA.“Technology doesn’t
stand still. Neither should your park or attraction!”
