Catana did not have the easiest year in 2008 and suffered
through being part of the Poncin Group which went into a form
good
of administration. However they have managed to ‘unshackle’
themselves from the remander of the Group and ended the year
in confident style with the launch on the Christophe Barreau
designed Catana 41
progress
Launched at La Rochelle Boat Show in September, Genoa in
November and Paris in December, she will be at Dusseldorf in
late January and has impressed those who have seen her. She
captures the style of the Catana 50 and is well presented.
She is different in interior design to here peer; the saloon is
dominated by two benc seats around a table with walkways
around this seating area, the cabins are accessed by steps from
the saloon as opposed to through a corridor and the berths are
accessed through and opening in the bulkhead. Like her peers she
is available in a four cabin and an owners version.
Her styling is bold and the finish is good.
The first Catana 65 was launched in September and has also been
well received where she has been shown. The latest Catana 92
custom was delivered in December and to cap it all the Catana
46 will be launched later this year. This is a bold presentation by
Catana.
They have also updated their website which is now much better
This is what it should look like
than hitherto. Well done!

Sunreef’s first-ever superyacht, the 31m
Sunreef 102 Double Deck, is currently under
construction at the group’s yard in Gdansk,
Poland, where it is said to be making good
progress.
What is looks
like now!
Both flybridge and wet deck have already
been set up, forming a large aluminium
superstructure. Straightening, strain and stress relief have also been
completed. A team of carpenters is now getting ready to install all
interior fittings on the yacht, which is the first stage of general yacht
finishing.
Together with the Sunreef 102, a Sunreef 114 is also being built at
the yard. The hulls are being built upside down on a technological
foundation. All deck plates will be installed once the frames of
the construction have been erected. The next step of the building
process will be reversing the hull, which is due at the end of
February 2009.
Headquartered in Gdansk, Poland, Sunreef Yachts specialises
in luxury sailing catamarans and claims to be the first and only
shipyard in the world to have under construction two multihulls
over 30m (100ft). The company also builds monohulls and power
catamarans.
