When Mark said “Oman,” I was in. Actually, I’m “in” whenever Mark says anywhere. Mark Synnott is an incredible explorer and a really good friend. We were heading off to the country of Oman in the Middle East. Our destination was a jagged peninsula that extends like rugged limestone fi ngers out into the Persian Gulf. We would have three weeks of fantastic rock climbing and, I hoped, an intriguing story in photographs.
