Caving is a physical sport that involves climbing, walking, crawling, hiking and even swimming. It can be hazardous. Robbers Cave park ranger Mike Prince recommends cavers plan their excursions beforehand, that they be in reasonable physical shape, and that, if venturing off the beaten path, they let someone know where they are going and when they expect to return. Whether caves are on government or on private property, “wild” or open to the public, TROG reminds would-be cavers of the spelunkers’ motto: “Take only pictures, leave only footprints.”
