LASERS AND DIODES 8kW Corona fibre laser
NLight has introduced an 8kW version of its Corona fibre laser, the Corona CFX-8000. The CFX-8000 incorporates programmable beam characteristics to bring together the speed and cost advantages of traditional fibre lasers with the superior thick metal cutting of CO2
lasers. Blue laser modules
SLD Laser has introduced ultra-compact, high-power, high-brightness, fibre- coupled blue laser modules for materials processing applications, including copper welding for electric vehicle battery production and manufacturing consumer electronic devices, as well as 3D printing. The modules are made using the company’s own Semipolar GaN laser diode technology. In addition to offering exceptional
absorption in highly reflective metals such as copper and aluminium, the blue laser light of SLD’s new modules is also highly absorptive in non-metals and organics, therefore making it ideal for marking, engraving, and cutting these materials. The new blue laser modules are ultra-
compact, with a form factor roughly the size of a credit card, and can deliver over 20W from a 100μm fibre. The technology is modular and can be power scaled and aggregated with optical fibres into higher power systems to deliver hundreds of watts from high brightness delivery fibres less than 600μm in diameter.

focal length of the lens being used and the distance from the lens to the front of the BWA-CAM 20/20, and the real time measurement is ready. The M2 measurement is made in a fraction of a second and takes no more effort or training than measuring laser power.
