Anritsu launches optical spectrum analyser for faster inspection and measurement
www.anritsu.com
Anritsu has launched the MS9740B, a spectrum analyser for evaluating output
characteristics of optical active devices used by optical communications systems. Te MS9740B offers many of the same
functions as its predecessor MS9740A, while shortening measurement processing times, the company says, by 50 per cent. Tis is designed to cut optical active device inspection times to increase mass production-line efficiency – important in the run-up to 5G. Te benchtop analyser features wide dynamic range, high resolution, and fast sweep speeds over a wavelength range of 600 to 1,750nm. It supports multi-mode fibre input and retains optical active device (LD-Module, DFB-LD, FP-LD, LED, WDM and Optical Amplifier (NF and Gain)) measurement menu screens for evaluating devices. It supports all-at-once measurements of key evaluation items, such as optical centre wavelength, level, OSNR and spectrum width, and displays these results on one screen.
New slide detector adapters from JGR Optics
www.jgroptics.com
A new range of slide detector adapters designed to allow quick and easy testing of cable assemblies with different connectors on each end is available from JGR Optics. Te company says the new design
makes changing adapters at least four times faster, plus they can mount to JGR’s re-developed integrating sphere that has a wider aperture (11mm) to accommodate Duplex LC assemblies. Tis increases testing speed because
the ends connected to the detector do not need to be touched while testing the cable assembly. Te adapters have been developed with
automation in mind, where even a robot can change the detector adapters with ease. Te company looked at the growing demand for Duplex LCs, the many complex cable assemblies with a variety of connector types, and the future with automation. Existing JGR equipment can be upgraded to take advantage of the new design.

Henkel reveals new adhesive for optical component assembly
www.henkel.com
An adhesive designed for streamlined assembly of optical components and modules is the latest product from Henkel’s Adhesive Electronics division. Loctite Stycast OS 8300 is a two-part,
dispensable epoxy adhesive conducive to high- volume manufacturing requirements, designed for bonding of fibre and glass in optical fibre applications. It has an adhesion bond strength on multiple substrates – including FR4 laminate – of 18kg. Tis is as per internal lab testing with a sample cured at 150°C, die shear strength at 25°C on glass to glass, 2 x 2mm die, Kg>15.
www.fibre-systems.com @fibresystemsmag In addition to a strong bond, the adhesive
is formulated with a matched refractive index for optimal light transmission, has low weight loss for reduced risk of optical component contamination, and an improved work life to enable extended processing time. Tese properties ideally place the material for FAU, ROADM and optical cable assemblies. It offers quick cure at relatively low
temperature (80°C), while the ability to store material at room temperature before mixing also allows optoelectronics manufacturers to reduce energy cost and support sustainability objectives.
