Break down silos in research for better outcomes
Ex Libris has collaborated with five leading universities to develop Esploro, a new Research Services Platform that breaks down the silos that prevent research excellence. Cutting-edge research is mission-
critical for universities. Yet often, the steps in the research lifecycle are inefficiently connected costing universities—and individual researchers—time, money and even recognition. The many steps in a modern research
project — from planning, to securing grants, to collecting, storing, and analysing information, to publishing and disseminating the results—usually involve siloed IT systems and stakeholders, with limited communication between them. Consequently, the management of a university’s research objects—such as data, outputs, publications and other processes—becomes more difficult. Breaking down these silos creates greater collaboration to improve research outcomes and reduce the burden for everyone involved.
A single tool that enables consistent
research practices across departments and disciplines Esploro helps to increase collaboration. Based on open standards, to integrate with existing research systems, it automates processes to streamline workflows. It uses built-in metrics to demonstrate the use and impact of research outputs, and as it is cloud-based, everyone has visibility into research objects and associated data.
Benefits: • Library and research administrative staff who do not have to manage duplicated data entry
• Researchers have greater visibility into the research assets of the entire university, including their own outputs
• Research offices can ensure regulatory compliance and quantify the impact of the institution’s research efforts more easily.
