PRODUCT UPDATE CONTROL AND GUIDANCE CoaxPrinter cladding solution FLBK40 processing head

A new, lightweight, compact processing head

from the Coherent division formerly known as Lasag is optimised for industrial laser applications where space is limited and minimum mass is required. Specifically, the new FLBK40 is a modular beam delivery system, including a variety of collimators, focusing lenses, cameras, camera adapters and an IR illuminator. These can be configured for a wide range of fibre laser-based cutting, welding or drilling applications.

The FLBK40 system includes four different focal length collimators with QB connectors, to ensure that the head can be matched to the output characteristics of virtually any fibre laser. Plus, six different sets of focusing optics – four for welding and two for cutting – enable focusing at a number of different spot size and working distance combinations. The IR illumination and camera options give good visibility of the work surface independent of ambient light. www.coherent.com

Precision raster scan polygon controller

The new precision raster scan polygon controller from Precision Laser Scanning

provides a simple, cost-effective solution for laser cleaning or surface modification at hundreds of metres per second. The controller will synchronise a high-speed polygon scanner with a galvanometer scanner and a high-power laser for a raster scan more than ten times faster than that possible with traditional galvo scanners. The polygon provides a fast x-axis line scan.

ACCESSORIES

MLC-Kit 1600 cooler AMS Technologies has introduced a compact and low-vibration solution for liquid cooling that can be modulated within a wide range. The MLC-Kit 1600, with dimensions of a typical 19-inch rack mount case, provides up to 1.6kW cooling capacity and is the latest addition to the Mini Liquid Cooling Kit series.

The MLC-Kit 1600 development 28

kit is based on two linear compressors that offer high- efficiency, continuous, oil-free, low-vibration and quiet operation, as well as the ability to modulate cooling power from close to 0W to approximately 1.6kW. With its compact setup (440 x 184 x 365mm), the development kit is ideally suited as a cooling device for custom liquid coolant circuits and can be easily integrated into

19-inch racks. The interface to the customer’s application comprises two R 3/8-inch connectors at the brazed plate heat exchanger and a digital frequency signal (5V square wave signal with 20Hz to 200Hz) for cooling capacity control. Operating from a 230V AC

supply, the power consumption of the MLC-Kit 1600 ranges between 20W and 440W. www.amstechnologies.com

With the CoaxPrinter, Precitec offers a laser cladding solution that permits multi-

directional processing of the additive material wire.

The processing head is able to feed wire coaxially into the interaction zone, where a circular beam profile is then focused directly to the point of interaction between the wire and workpiece surface. Thus, the CoaxPrinter enables shadow-free wire feeding, an omnidirectional intensity distribution, homogenised preheating, and a perfectly controlled energy input. The wire

3D calibration wizard

Scanlab’s new software-based 3D calibration wizard enables a scan solution’s individual components to be aligned step-by-step. This dialogue-driven software also vastly simplifies laser equipment calibration for less-experienced laser machine operators. The 3D calibration wizard can be used to align all system components, such as a 2D scan head combined with an F-theta objective or z-axis extension. Calibration proceeds under the guidance of the software’s dialogue windows. After each step, an individualised configuration file

feeding itself is sensor- monitored, which is ideal for automated manufacturing. The CoaxPrinter

processes almost every solid or flux- cored wire for welding or soldering in standard dimensions. The processing head is also compatible with common multi-kilowatt fibre-coupled diode lasers with a fibre core diameter of 0.6mm and a power of 6kW. www.precitec.de

gets generated and loads automatically to take command of the alignment task before the next step is taken. This predefined approach reduces sources of error.

Results of the individual steps flow into the final

result, thus allowing significant improvements to precision and spot variation. Users receive quantifiable benefits – not just in terms of laser processing and product quality, along with the avoidance of rejects – but above all in terms of reduced effort and a vastly simplified calibration procedure. www.scanlab.de

At the end of each line, the galvo steps one increment to provide the y-axis. This scanner combination will create a raster scan on a fixed target, or the galvo can be used to sync with a moving target. The controller allows remote control of the polygon speed. Start-of-scan detection tells the controller precisely when each scan line starts. This allows the controller to turn on the laser at the correct time. The user can adjust the range and overlap of the y-axis galvo. www.precisionlaserscanning.com
