Soon after the last edition went to print, Peter and I spent a very interesting day as guests of Morris Site Machinery at their facility near Spalding in Lincolnshire. Peter has written an account of the day on pages 14 and 15 which makes for very interesting reading. We both came away feeling buoyed up by the enthusiasm and commitment of this thriving British Company. The news seems to be full of doom and gloom about the UK economy, with stories of many companies anxious about the future outside the EU. It was good to visit a company with a positive outlook who are facing the challenges of the future head on. Peter also visited LED Lenser whose UK office is based in Sunninghill in

Berkshire. His article on pages 10 and 11 gives an insight into the history of the company and their range of products. He was then able to take home some head torches to try them out for himself. Other reviews in this magazine are some PCD blades from Dart, the

promised socketry set from the new Draper Tools range and some torque wrenches from Stahlwille. To accompany them Peter has written about his thoughts on which professional hand and power tools to choose. We are always keen to promote employment in the industry from diverse

groups and to this end have included an article written by Graham Arundell, the managing director of HAE and EHA, on Women In Hire. This will be a subject discussed at the next HAE/EHA conference which this year will be at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry from 11th-12th October. Ben Dyer has contributed an informative article on reducing paperwork by

making use of your smartphone. We also have two Voice of the Industry features, one from Dave Bigham at National Flooring Equipment on the importance of training for using floor removal equipment, and another one for our Hire section from BPI auctions on the disposal of surplus hire equipment. Peter and I will be heading off to Malvern in September for one of the Toolbank Autumn Trade Shows – there is a list of

these on page 5 and on the website www.toolbusiness.co.uk if you are interested attending one of these. Many new products to see, and promotions and deals to take advantage of. You may notice that we occasionally include an advert for ClicSargent. This is a charity close to my heart as they raise funds

for Children suffering from cancer and to give support to their families. They have some very imaginative and exciting fund raising events. My son once took part in a sponsored race up the stairs of the tallest skyscraper in the city of London! This month they are advertising the Windsor Half Marathon being held on 24th September. If you are feeling fit and ready for a challenge, why not give it a go! In the previous edition Zarges, a leading manufacturer of Ladders contributed an article on the new safety standards for

ladders. This month the Ladder Association has re-emphasised the importance of this issue and include a handout to keep for future reference. I hope you enjoy reading this edition of the print magazine. Also be sure to visit the website www.toolbusiness.co.uk to

keep up to date with regular news from the industry, and find out more about products and advertisers in the magazine. There are quick links to email and websites to many of those featured.
