Nettle Root Improves Prostate Symptoms

An enlarged prostate, known as benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH), afflicts half of men by age 60 and 90 percent of men by age 85. Although it isn’t cancerous, treatment can involve medications and surgery. European doctors often prescribe the herb nettle root, and Iranian researchers tested its effectiveness in a study that divided 80 BPH

patients into two groups. One was given 300 milligrams of nettle root extract twice a day for eight weeks; the other group received a placebo. The researchers found the nettle root significantly improved urinary frequency, urinary urgency and night urination compared with the placebo group. It was not effective in modifying prostate volume, the feeling of incomplete emptying, intermittency, urine stream and straining.

Revised Supplement Formula

Slows Macular Degeneration Age-related macular

degeneration (AMD), the most common cause of blindness in older Americans, became less of a threat in 1996 when the national Age-Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS) verified that certain nutrients—beta- carotene, vitamin C, vitamin E, copper and zinc—slowed its progression. But after other studies showed a link between beta-carotene and lung cancer,

it was removed from the formula. Two carotenoids found in the retina—lutein and zeaxanthin—were added, and the formula was rebranded as AREDS2. In a new, 10-year, follow-up study by the National Eye Institute (NEI), AREDS2 was found to reduce late AMD symptoms an additional 20 percent compared to the original formula. “This 10-year data confirms that not only is the new formula safer, it’s actually better at slowing AMD progression,” says Emily Chew, M.D., lead author of the study and director of the NEI Division of Epidemiology and Clinical Application.

Release Trauma at Magnolia Health and Wellness Center

H

ave you noticed

that “trauma” has become a household

HEALTH & WELLNESS, INC.

word? For the majority of us, it was right in our own backyard during the past two pandemic years. Trauma affects each of us uniquely (to our mind, body or environment).

Oftentimes the remembrance of an unpleasant event can be reactivated or “triggered” by a current event because the memories that were buried can remain imprinted within our cell memory. Sometimes “ancestral trauma” may be reawakened that may parallel a significant event that occurred to one of our parents, grandparents or great- grandparents. For example, an event within a family’s history such as a stroke, heart attack, car accident or illness can be in our cell memory, too. When the body receives a cut, the body works to repair the wound. If that wound is repeatedly injured, it may fester and cause pain. Once the re-injury (or block) is removed, healing resumes and the pain is eliminated. The same is true for mental or emotional wounds. If the system is blocked or continuously triggered, the mental wound festers causing pain. Blocks can be removed through progressive technologies such as Deep Trauma Release Technique and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Release). EMDR Therapy is a non-invasive treatment using left/right brain- balancing music or a light bar to help reprocess negative memories. Deep Trauma Release Technique, developed by Dr. Mari Sammis, is based on the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) body clock and includes deep breath work, which assists release at the cellular level.

If you suffer from PTSD, chronic stress, emotional pain or psychological trauma, come experience the healing support of these therapies. Begin now to renew your vitality and revitalize your life! Dr. Mari Sammis, founder of Magnolia Health and Wellness Center, is offering a free 20-min consult during September. Visit www.MagnoliaHealth-Wellness.com for more info.
