AFTER months of negotiation, Barnstaple based Troy UK have celebrated the successful acquisition of buying group THS.


The signifi cant deal creates an independent buying group of substantial scale, and assists both organisations in creating further competitive advantage for their members in the combined challenge of competing with national rivals.


Troy is keen to preserve the well-known THS brand and maintain stability for their current membership base, so the staff team and operations at the Head Offi ce in Rotherham will remain in place for the foreseeable future.


Rather than THS being simply consumed by Troy, changes to current practices at THS will be subject to careful consideration by the Troy board of Directors.


THS Tools have already become very much part of the family, now operating as a division of Troy UK limited.


Dustcontrol UK & Speedy Hire combine for Willmott Dixon


DUSTCONTROL UK and Speedy Hire have combined their expertise to deliver dust extraction solutions for Willmott Dixon – one of the UK’s leading construction fi rms.


The partnership centres on a Willmott Dixon project to refurbish the Old Admiralty Building (OAB) in Horseguards Parade, central London - an undertaking which will see the Grade II listed building transformed into a modern working environment.


At present, it is Willmott Dixon’s biggest project and is a joint venture between two of the fi rm’s independent arms: Willmott Dixon Interiors and Willmott Dixon Construction, which have come together to form Team OAB – a partnership specifi c to the Old Admiralty project.


Silica dust


The project has unique challenges, both in relation to the materials contained within the building and the requirements of the new fi t out itself, which is spread across over 600 rooms - presenting some signifi cant potential health and safety issues, many of which are dust related.


Silica dust is found in many common construction materials and presents the risk of silicosis, a serious lung disease caused through the inhalation of Respirable Crystalline Silica; dust particles invisible to the naked eye created through activities such as drilling, sanding, coring and grinding.


It’s not just silica that poses a hazard. Asbestos is present throughout the

building, while horse hair in the lime plaster which is being reinstated presents a very minimal risk of anthrax.


Willmott Dixon turned to Speedy Services for their input, and they brought in their supply chain partners Dustcontrol UK, specialists in providing dust extraction solutions.


Strategic engagement
