Element Materials Technology has acquired Orbit Industries in the USA, further strengthening the Group’s position in non- destructive testing (NDT) for the aerospace industry. With headquarters near
Cleveland, Ohio, Orbit is a Nadcap and ISO17025 accredited laboratory that also operates out of four other satellite inspection facilities across Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York. Orbit specialises in ultrasonic,
liquid penetrant, magnetic particle and chemical processing for raw materials, semi-finished and finished products, including landing gear components, aerofoils and aluminium wheels. Charles Noall, president and
DISPLACEMENT SENSORS GAIN NEW THREADS
The capaNCDT range of non- contact capacitive displacement sensors from Micro-Epsilon is now available with options for threaded housings for easier mounting. Available with M8, M12, M16 and M24 thread sizes, the sensors can measure ranges of 0.5, 1.25, 2 and 3mm. In addition, the sensors are
available in a cylindrical design with female connector/socket, with integrated cable or as flat sensors with integrated cable or as gap sensors. Sensor replacement is quick
and needs no recalibration. They are non-contact and wear-free, achieving excellent linearity, reproducibility and resolution. Suitable for use in clean
spaces, such as laboratories, they can also operate in dirty, dusty industrial environments.

IN-WHEEL MOTOR TEST EQUIPMENT
ATE Solutions has received a large order from Protean Electric to develop further testing systems for the ProteanDRIVE Electric Vehicle (EV) in-wheel motor. ATE Solutions will develop the
test equipment for the ProteanDRIVE RAM Power Module using a FLEX 10 for FLASH testing and a FLEX 40 for functional testing. After undergoing acceptance testing in the UK, it will go to a factory in China. Steve Lees, MD at ATE
