Accelerometer features ADP technology and is suitable for machine monitoring applications

Noise filtered accelerometer Accelerometer with built-in noise filtering provides flexible

support for machine condition monitoring of industrial equipment

Kionix has developed an accelerometer for high-accuracy, low-power motion sensing in indus- trial equipment and consumer wearables. It is now common practice for factories across all industries to use predictive maintenance to detect abnormalities before malfunctions occur in their equipment. This has increased the need for machine health monitoring using sen- sors to detect equipment conditions such as motor vibration. The KX134-1211 is a 3-axis accelerometer optimised for machine condition monitoring using advanced data path (ADP) technology for noise filtering and sen- sor signal processing, a task normally carried out by the MCU (micro-controller unit) but now performed by the accelerometer it- self. This helps reduce MCU load and power consumption while improving application performance. To meet industrial requirements the sensing frequency and acceler- ation detection ranges have been increased to 8,500Hz and +/- 64g respectively, while supporting op- erating temperatures up to 105°C. At the same time, the sensor

consumes less than half the cur- rent (0.67µA in low-power mode) compared with conventional products. Extra features include “wake up” and “back to sleep” functions to lower power con- sumption, enabling sensing opera- tion in battery-equipped wearable

devices.

extreme conditions Simcenter SCADAS RS hardware provides fast and

accurate data acquisition for testing in severe conditions Siemens has produced Simcenter SCADAS RS hardware, a hardware and software system,

from its Digital Industries Software division to provide data acquisition when testing in harsh and difficult environments. With Simcenter SCADAS RS, test engineers and managers can optimise their data acquisition and measurement performance in environments such as heavy equipment and transport industries. Load data collection tests are often performed on small and large prototypes in demanding conditions – on proving grounds, public roads or in remote areas – where teams are continually pushed to perform an increasing number of tests to ever tighter deadlines. Simcenter SCADAS RS is modular in design and offers maximum flexibility in how it may be mounted on any vehicle or machine. It can withstand extreme temperatures, moisture, mud and dust, and high shock and vibration levels. This not only enables precise data measurement but also streamlined analysis and in-depth processing using the Simcenter Testlab software suite. From here, test engineers can use this validated data for further load data processing and use it in combination with simulation models to help bring digital twins to reality. Test managers can optimise ROI and boost productivity by integrating Simcenter SCADAS RS into existing processes and procedures. It can be easily integrated into company wired and wireless networks, as well as public networks.
