Take advantage of government investment in UK prisons

What: custodial facilities forum 2019 When: 14-15 November 2019 Where: Whittlebury Hall, Northamptonshire

Web: www.cf-forum.co.uk

I

n recent weeks, new Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has pledged to provide an extra £100m to boost security in prisons, together with reforms to sentencing and the rehabilitation for offenders. And he promised to create an additional 10,000 prison places in currently over-populated jails and other institutions up and down the country. This announcement brings a wealth of opportunities for those involved in the construction industry to continue their work in, or consider a move into, this very-specialist sector. Now in its third year, the custodial

facilities forum is run by mhdf sister company, Stable Events, and has been developed to provide the ideal platform to hear from experts, meet suppliers, and network with fellow professionals to help you fund, deliver and manage these diverse estates and facilities.

It is designed for anyone involved in the delivery of custodial estates and facilities, including operators of prisons, youth detention centres, police custodial units, and customs and immigration facilities; as well as contractors, architects, M&E contractors, project managers, and consultants working to deliver these projects. Over one-and-a-half days there is a packed schedule of seminars, tailored one-to-one business meetings, networking opportunities, and an extensive social programme. Subjects which will be addressed

through the three CPD-certified speaker sessions will include innovations in security facilities and products, designing for ligature-free environments, introducing sports and leisure facilities in penal institutions, the importance of outdoor space for rehabilitation, and designing for an ageing prison population. There will also be case studies

from around the country and further afield, exploring best-practice design principles. A previous project delegate from Stride Treglown, said of the event: “Having not attended this event before, I was unsure what to expect, but it was so seamlessly well organised from beginning to end that there was no time to be lost or uninterested.”

Michael Kirkland of supplier delegate, Cell Security, added: “The set-up works really works. It is much better than a ‘passive’ conference where you display your kit and they come and talk to you if they want to.” And a spokesman for leisure design

construction specialist, Createability, said: “It is a great environment to meet new organisations, catch up with old, and gain fresh insight into best practice within the industry, with opportunities enabled at every moment.” To find out how you can get involved with this year’s event, which will be held on 14-15 November at Whittlebury Hall in Northamptonshire, call 020 8288 1080 or email info@cf-forum.co.uk This year’s event will run alongside the 2019 mental health & dementia facilities forum, offering even more opportunities to network with potential clients.
