DOING IT BY THE BOOK
The new MYBA Book provides valuable information and knowledge to the wider superyacht industry

or more than three decades, MYBA The Worldwide Yachting Association has played an important role in establishing and upholding the highest standards
in the superyacht industry. Its long history, together with its diverse and complex nature, have always been excellent material for a book but, until today, such a publication has never existed. That is what makes The MYBA Book a milestone.
The MYBA Book was born of the need to generate awareness about the values and many activities of MYBA. It provides an insight into the reasons for its establishment and honours its founders by telling their story. It shares the vision that guides the Association and its growing global Membership, and provides details of the work that is necessary to ensure the sustainability of the whole industry. It documents the responsibilities and privileges of MYBA Members, and outlines the reasons and benefits of working with a MYBA Member. It celebrates MYBA’s strong belief that working together for the good of all is the only way forward. It is MYBA in a nutshell.
By producing The MYBA Book, the Association aims to reach as many owners, clients, captains and non-MYBA brokers as possible, and provide valuable information about the important issues that concern the superyacht industry. The superyacht industry is a key player in the global economy and the revenue and employment opportunities it generates are both impressive and far-reaching. On a global level it is worth 24 billion € and creates over 350, 000 jobs, making it an industry that deserves to be safeguarded. It possesses the potential for even higher yields if its growth is fostered and encouraged, and The MYBA Book is one of the many important steps that is being taken in this direction.
Education and motivation are two of the basic pillars for building a better future and they are an increasingly important aspect of MYBA’s mission. The efforts made within the Association range from the MYBA Superyacht Brokers’ Seminars to “Debate &
Motivate” brainstorming sessions but the Association is not stopping there. It believes that it has the serious responsibility of passing knowledge from one generation to another and ensuring that its valuable legacy is carried forward. The MYBA Book is a testament to this belief as it will be distributed to a broad audience and will not be restricted to the MYBA Membership.
The MYBA Book is an excellent introduction to the impressive set of tools that have been created and developed by MYBA Members, the inner workings and structure of the Association, the yacht shows that the Association is actively involved in, and the social causes that it supports. It also provides a valuable glimpse into the future, pinpointing the challenges ahead and revealing some of the steps that MYBA is already taking in order to face them.
