Futurebuild 2019: tackling the wellbeing challenge
Futurebuild is a show that aims to challenge experts within the leisure sector to explore how to deliver long term value and benefit human wellbeing by focusing on building better buildings
and will offer architects, designers, contractors and consultants the insights, learnings and knowledge needed to help achieve this goal. The Time For Action conference will

take at the central ecobuild conference arena. Sitting at the heart of the event is the ideas arena where industry professionals are challenged to take action with a programme of inspiring speakers and game-changing discussions. Day one of the conference will explore
‘The Health and Wellbeing Challenge – putting health and wellbeing at the heart of building design’ in a session chaired by Anne Godfrey, Chief Executive at the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, with key speakers including Emer O’Connell from PHE and Charlotte Clark from Arup. ‘The Quality Challenge – why can’t we
build better buildings’ will also be addressed by Robin Nicholson of Cullinan Studio, Ben Derbyshire of RIBA and Kath Fontana of RICS, in a session hosted on day three. Surrounding the ecobuild conference
arena will be six Futurebuild Hubs, where visitors can experience new ideas, innovations and research through a series of engaging seminars and exhibits. For the first time, Futurebuild will host a
dedicated area focused on interiors where people will have the opportunity to meet with leading institutions and manufacturers
he event, which is the evolution of ecobuild, takes place at ExCeL London from 5-7 March this year
to discuss pioneering products and collaboratively explore the tangible impact of design on end users. The focus of the Hub will be on design with purpose, with discussions surrounding the WELL Building Standard, the Healthy Building Agenda, and the use of colour and light. The Buildings Hub will cover new build,
retrofit, refurbishment and more. It will be the place where professionals can find innovative brands working across all aspects of building construction and maintenance and engage in conversations around the latest technology and legislation. The Urban Infrastructure Hub is also
new for 2019, where those interested in blue, green, grey and social infrastructure can explore the latest solutions for all aspects of the city. Meanwhile, the Materials Hub will act as a concentrated platform, shining a spotlight on the most exciting and emerging materials. Two more Hubs will focus on Offsite
and Energy. The Futurebuild Hubs will ultimately provide experts with a platform to plan and deliver the change needed to address challenges within their industry. In addition to the ecobuild conference
and Futurebuild Hubs is the Knowledge Forum – a dedicated area where industry- leading partners, academia and professional bodies will offer a comprehensive look at the biggest issues facing the built environment, and provide useful solutions and guidance to take back to the office. The Knowledge Forum will host CPD workshops across four key
themes: digital construction and quality in construction; built environment research and education, leadership and professional practice; skills and delivery and working with manufacturers. To register, visit:
