Park Word

Hello and welcome to another issue of Park World. I don’t want to jinx it, but I think the weather in Europe is about to improve. Yes, I know as soon as I say that hail stones the size of

golf balls will fall from the sky, but I’m almost certain I spotted the sun the other day. It’s been so long missing from view that I struggled to remember what it looks like, but something yellow-ish and round appeared in the sky, so we’re either about to be obliterated by a fireball from space or (and hear me out on this one) the sun is coming out.

I know. Radical thinking to be sure.

So, with better weather in mind, we can finally start thinking about planning some much-needed days out, and if this issue is anything to go by, we’ve got plenty of options!

Our cover stars this month are Alshaar Amusement Services, a company doing rather well in the UAE and Middle East, so catch our interview with Chairman, Eyad Alsharr on page 18.

Our North American Editor, Susan Storey, has been busy this month; as well as her Park Hoppin’ column (page 5) Susan also brings us news of Six Flags Fiesta Texas and the expansion of its popular DC Universe- themed land (page 34). Susan also reports on Sea Life Florida’s all-new aquarium (page 32) and Fun Spot America Theme Park as it looks forward to a huge 2025 (page 30).

Tom Anstey is back (as he will be every issue) and this month looks at the impact history has on our industry (page 28), while we turn a spotlight on BoldMove Nation not once (page 25) but twice (page 38) as we look in more detail at how they are reinventing the dark ride experience with dynamic trackless ride system. There is, of course, more for you to discover this issue, but I’ll leave you to uncover those extra morsels of goodness for yourselves. Thanks as always for picking us up. Enjoy! Matt

Editor: Matt Broughton

THIS MONTH’S COVER SHOT: Alshaar Amusement Services was founded in 1988 in Syria and opened its largest branch in the UAE in 2013. It has witnessed significant expansion in the Middle East, Asia, and Europe recently, in large part thanks to the recent growth of the entertainment industry amidst the rise of new cities and the rise in the global standard of living.
