Ride Profile

A seafaring adventure Soon an original storyline, concept, and theming was developed by Merlin Magic Making, the design arm of Merlin Entertainments. The Florida park has been known for embracing family-friendly swashbucklers and playful plundering, as seen throughout its incredible pirate-themed hotel, during the Brickbeard’s Watersport Stunt Show and at the annual Piratefest Weekend event. Creating a seafaring adventure that expanded the pirate theme through the canals provided inspiration in the perfect environment. “At Legoland Florida Resort, understanding and creating entertainment

value always remains first and foremost in our planning,” Jackson expanded. “Pirate River Quest is really special. It’s a multigenerational ride, it brings back boats to the original Cypress Gardens waterways and it introduces a fun storyline complete with Lego humour to our guests.” Kelly Hornick, head of marketing and communications, Legoland Florida

Resort, agreed with Jackson, adding: “For all of us at Legoland, it is important that our attractions help kids have their best day ever! All members of the family can set sail together on the Pirate River Quest.” The attraction does not have height restrictions, and free life vests are

provided to all guests ages six and younger, and upon request for anyone else. In addition, two of the boats are fully ADA accessible, allowing guests to roll directly onto the boat so they can fully experience the quest with their family in a safe, comfortable manner. 10 individual boats make up the attraction’s fleet and each voyage is a captained, free-floating 20-minute experience for all ages. Jackson and his team are proud of the new addition which is not a typical

thrill ride or traditional park attraction. When asked what makes Pirate River Quest special, he says: “The botanical gardens are a hidden gem at the park. While travelling through the story, you venture though the broader gardens, and can even glimpse wild ospreys, otters, and egrets along the way. It highlights a unique part of our resort and even includes a short sail out on to Lake Eloise as the boat heads back to the dock.” And while it’s not a guarantee guests will see the wildlife, Jackson mentions,

Lego toucans, monkeys, flamingos and even alligators are a delightful menagerie always ready to provide smiles as the boats float by. Finally, for those wondering if pirate treasure is truly hidden among the waterways of Legoland Florida’s Pirate River Quest, only the boat captains and their passengers know for sure.
