The theme park capital of the region

A key event in the industry’s calendar, the Dubai Entertainment, Amusement & Leisure Show, known as DEAL, will be celebrating its silver jubilee when it returns to the Dubai World Trade Centre in March.

T

WHERE: Dubai World Trade Centre WHEN: 25-27 March TIMES: 10:00am to 6.00PM (Mon & Tues) 10:00am to 5:00pm (Weds)

he largest amusement and leisure trade show in the world outside of America, DEAL has been shaping the region’s entertainment industry for the past 25 years

and remains one of the most popular shows for operators around the world. Sharif Rahman, CEO of show organiser International Expo Consultants (IEC) says: “The amusement, entertainment and leisure industry in the GCC countries has come a long way. UAE boasts multiple, award winning entertainment venues prevalent in the country. With a host of theme parks such as IMG World of Adventures, Legoland, Motiongate, Bollywood Parks, Ferrari World and Warner Bros in driving distance, Dubai is definitely the theme park capital of the region.” Rosa Tahmaseb, managing director, EMEA, Helix Leisure comments: “The industry in the middle east is really interesting at the moment; with various factors affecting the economy we are seeing a change in spending patterns. However, the addition of Saudi Arabia opening up the entertainment industry will surely have a big impact on vendors and operators alike.”

One of the reasons that the entertainment industry has

found success in the region is its early adoption of the latest technology. “Virtual reality and augmented reality has been around for a long time, particularly the former, but its application in theme park rides and games is still relatively recent.” says IEC The region has welcomed the technology at its parks. A dedicated VR park also opened in Dubai Mall earlier this year.

Register now According to IEC research, a staggering 76% of visitors go to the show evaluate new product and technology; 50% to meet existing suppliers/manufacturers; 38% to identify possible joint ventures; 42% to evaluate and place orders; 35% to acquire new agency/representation and 37% to evaluate the show for next year’s participation.
